Our Story

We started in a garage with one leather tote and a stubborn belief that people would still pay for something built to outlast them.

Anna Marlowe — Founder

Ten years on, not much has changed. We still work from a two-room shop off Alberta Street. We still turn down wholesale offers that would make us faster and worse. And we still write the shipping labels by hand, which is either charming or inefficient depending on the week.

What has changed is the company we keep: eleven makers across three countries, each doing one thing exceptionally well. We don’t chase trends or run sales. When a piece sells out, it comes back when it’s ready — and not a day sooner.

What we insist on,
and what we leave out

Made by hand

Every piece leaves a workshop, not a factory floor. We know the makers by name and pay them before we pay ourselves.

Honest materials

Vegetable-tanned leather, European linen, solid brass, stoneware. Nothing plated, bonded, or pretending to be something else.

Quietly packed

Unbleached paper, no plastic, no filler. Your order arrives in a box you can compost and a note you might keep.

Mended, not replaced

Send anything back within ten years and we'll repair it. Most things come home better than they left.

The Letter

One letter a month

Restock notices, workshop notes, and the occasional coupon for readers only. No more than twelve emails a year — we count.
